Where do you get a marriage licence in The Blue Mountains?

The Town of The Blue Mountains issues marriage licences through the Town Clerk at Town Hall, 32 Mill Street in Thornbury. Since February 3, 2025, you can start your application online through ServiceOntario, or download the paper form and submit it to the Town Clerk. The Town's fee is $170.

For questions, the Town Hall can be reached at (519) 599-3131 or toll-free at (888) 258-6867. Remember that an Ontario licence is valid for 3 months from the day it is issued, so time your application to your date.

Does the Town perform civil ceremonies?

The Town Clerk does perform civil marriages, but the Town currently says it is not accepting new bookings for civil wedding services. Ceremonies already booked will go ahead, and licence applications are not affected. So if you are planning a wedding now, you will need your own officiant.

If you would like to marry at a Town venue, contact the Community Services Department for the Beaver Valley Community Centre or a Town park, or the Town Clerk for Town Hall.

Mountains, orchards and the Bay: bring the officiant to you

Weddings here happen at ski resorts, orchards, Georgian Bay beaches and private chalets, in every season, not just summer. A private officiant comes to your venue and writes a ceremony that fits it, whether that's a winter wedding at the hills or a September ceremony by the water. With Celebrance, the price is shown upfront, all-in, travel included within the Collingwood and Blue Mountains zone, and if your officiant can't make it, we send a replacement at no cost.

How far ahead should you plan?

With civil bookings paused, private officiants are the main option in the area, so book as soon as your date is set. Then apply for your licence within the 3 months before the wedding. Our marriage licence planner gives you the exact dates.

Information checked on September 24, 2026 against the Town of The Blue Mountains' official pages. Fees and services change: confirm with the Town Clerk before you apply.
