Editorial policy
Our guides and local pages help people prepare a wedding or a funeral ceremony in Ontario. Getting a date, a fee or an office address wrong can cost someone a trip or a licence, so we follow a few simple rules.
Official sources first
Facts about marriage licences, fees, documents, offices and legal requirements come from official sources: the Government of Ontario, ServiceOntario and the municipality concerned. Each local page lists its sources at the bottom. We do not publish a fact we could not trace to a source.
Human review before publication
Some first drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools. Every page is then read, checked against its sources and approved by a person before it goes online. Nothing is published automatically.
Dated updates
Each page shows the date of its last update. Guides also keep a short list of what changed and when. Rules and fees change, so we review our pages regularly, and whenever an official source announces a change.
Prices on this site
The prices shown on Celebrance are set by Celebrance, per region, for our own service. They are not quotes from third parties, and no vendor pays to appear on our pages or to rank higher.
General information, not legal advice
Our guides explain official procedures in plain language. They do not replace the advice of a lawyer or the instructions of the office that issues your licence. When in doubt, the official source wins, and we link to it.
Corrections
If you spot an error or an outdated fact, write to us at hello@celebrance.ca with the page address. We check every report, correct the page when needed and note the change in its update date.
