Where do you get a marriage licence in Orillia?

Orillia issues marriage licences at the City Centre, 50 Andrew Street South. You first fill in the online marriage licence application (the provincial ServiceOntario form), then book a processing appointment online during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Only one of you needs to attend. If all four pieces of ID were uploaded with your application, only the person picking up the licence brings their ID.

The fee is $169 in 2026, paid by cash or debit only when the licence is issued. Under the City's fee by-law, it rises by about 2% every January 1, so check the current amount if your appointment falls in a new year. And keep in mind that an Ontario licence is valid for 3 months from the day it is issued.

Does the City of Orillia perform civil ceremonies?

No. The City of Orillia does not offer civil marriage ceremonies, so you will need an authorized officiant for your wedding, wherever it takes place.

Getting married in Orillia with your own officiant

Orillia sits between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, and many couples choose a waterfront ceremony, a park, a family cottage or a local venue. Wherever you marry, your officiant comes to you. With Celebrance, you see the price upfront, all-in, including travel within the zone, and if your officiant can't make it on the day, we send a replacement at no cost.

Orillia is part of our Barrie zone, so the same local officiants also cover Barrie and the drive up to Muskoka.

How far ahead should you plan?

Book your officiant as soon as you have a date: summer Saturdays by the lakes go quickly. Then book your licence appointment within the 3 months before the wedding. Our marriage licence planner gives you the exact dates.

Information checked on September 24, 2026 against the City of Orillia's official pages. Fees and hours can change: confirm with the City before your appointment.
