Where do you get a marriage licence in Mississauga?
Marriage licences are issued by the City Clerk's Office at the Mississauga Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive, by appointment. You first fill in the City's online application form, print it, and both of you sign the printed copy with original signatures. You then pick up the licence at your appointment.
The City's fee is $165 (the City notes it can change), payable by debit or credit card. It is not refunded if the licence is lost, damaged or expires, so time your appointment well: an Ontario licence is valid for 3 months from the day it is issued.
If you don't understand English or French, bring an interpreter to your licence appointment. The interpreter needs ID and completes a declaration.
Can you get married at Mississauga City Hall?
Yes. The City Clerk's Office performs civil ceremonies in the Civic Centre Chapel or, weather permitting, in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Garden beside City Hall, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The ceremony and consultation cost $391.04, tax included, and the chapel or garden is a separate rental. The City provides the officiant and meets you for a consultation at least 3 days before the ceremony. You need your licence number to book.
City Hall even has a banquet venue on its 12th floor that seats up to 144 guests, handy if you want everything in one place.
When is a private officiant a better fit?
A City Hall ceremony works well for a short weekday wedding. If you would rather marry on a weekend, at home, in a garden or at your banquet hall, or with a ceremony written around your story, a private officiant comes to you. With Celebrance, the price is shown upfront, all-in, and if your officiant can't make it, we send a replacement at no cost.
How far ahead should you plan?
Book your officiant as soon as your date is set: Saturdays from late spring to early fall go first. Then apply for your licence within the 3 months before the wedding. Our marriage licence planner gives you the exact dates.
Information checked on September 24, 2026 against the City of Mississauga's official pages. Fees and hours can change: confirm with the City before your appointment.
