Where do you get a marriage licence in London?

London issues marriage licences at the City Clerk's Office, 3rd floor of City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue. First submit your application through the online portal (the ServiceOntario marriage licence portal), then come to City Hall. Walk-ins are welcome, but people with appointments are served first.

The fee is $140, with no HST, payable by cash, debit, Visa or Mastercard, and it stays the same in the City's 2027 fee schedule. The licence is valid for 3 months from the day it is issued.

Can you get married at London City Hall?

Yes, by appointment, Monday to Friday except statutory holidays, with two options:

City staff can act as witnesses for $25 each. Arrive 15 minutes early and bring your own interpreter if you need one. If you cancel a booked ceremony, the City keeps a $113 administration fee.

When is a private officiant a better fit?

City Hall suits a weekday wedding, from very small to a 50-guest reception. For a weekend date, a larger celebration, your own venue or a ceremony written around your story, a private officiant comes to you. With Celebrance, the price is shown upfront, all-in, and if your officiant can't make it on the day, we send a replacement at no cost.

How far ahead should you plan?

Book your officiant as soon as your date is set, then apply through the portal within the 3 months before the wedding. Our marriage licence planner gives you the exact dates.
